Infantry Soldier Jamal Naser stands guard over underground fuel facilities. The large crater in front of him is the result of what Afghanistan National Army personnel say was a bomb from a B-52 Stratofortress bomber. The small pipeline, running out of the crater, is one of the functioning fuel lines that provides a gravity feed to a fuel truck fillstand. U.S Air Force specialists are manning Embedded Training Teams that fulfill an U.S. Army request for forces in support of an Office of Security Cooperation-Afghanistan (OSC-A) mission to advise, train and mentor Afghanistan National Army personnel on the U.S. Army logistics standard and methods. The mentoring will allow the ANA to operate safely and prepare for future missions. OSC-A in its partnership with the Government of Afghanistan and the International Community plan, program, and implement reform in Defense Sectors, develop a stable Afghanistan, and deter and defeat terrorism within its borders.
